..can you be happy without getting over hardship, or is that contentment?
Happy still cares too much to be "without a care" like contentment.
Sure, no matter what your circumstances, you can focus on your contentment.
Gale learned this when she visited Ghana. People there lived with hardships we would have great difficulty dealing with. And yet, they were happy, cheerful and friendly.
Remember the Bradism, "Relax into what must be Endured"
It is probably much easier to be happy in Ghana. What makes us think that hardships steal happiness?
The Western way of selling one's soul to be free of hardship makes it almost impossible to be happy.
